There is no uncertainty any longer – Blanka Vlasic will head the Croatian national team at Crvena Zvezda Stadium next weekend, at the European Team Championship. Officially the best European athlete said for “Sportski Zurnal”:
“I am coming to Belgrade. It is a certainty.”
When asked what her expectations were, her reply came as no surprise:
“I have nothing to hide. I intend to win and I hope to jump over 2m”
Despite the fact that this is the 2nd League Championship, top athletes from eight national teams (besides Serbia and Croatia, there will be teams from Austria, Switzerland, Israel, Latvia, Moldova and Slovak Republic), will make this event attractive for viewers from around the globe. At present, Blanka is among those who have maximum points in the Diamond League with three wins. During this season she has twice overshot the two meter mark and her best result is 2:03m. Last season her best result was 2:08m, just one centimeter short of the world record held by Stefka Kostadinova. The athlete from Split is currently the world champion in indoor and outdoor events and the runner-up in the Olympic Games. She and her coach Bojan Marinovic have great relationship with Serbian coaches Dragutin Topic and Goran Obradovic, as well as with athletes the two of them coach.
