Championship can start

Today, a press conference was held at the Continental hotel. Present at the conference were the president of the Championship Organization Committee Vladimir Lucic, the president of the Athletics Federation of Serbia Veselin Jevrosimovic and athletes Marina Muncan, the Universiade champion and Asmir Kolasinac, the 2009 European Cup Winter Throwing silver medalist.
“Everything is ready. As far as we are concerned, the Championship can start”, said the president of the Championship Organization Committee Vladimir Lucic, who thanked companies that sponsored this important athletic event. He added that the help of five hundred volunteers was of immense help.
The president of the Athletics Federation of Serbia Veselin Jevrosimovic, thanked Mr. Lucic on behalf of organizers for his assistance:
“I hope that after this event we will get help for building the much needed athletics hall for Serbian athletes.” He added that he was optimistic in that respect and that he hoped that when the new hall was finished Belgrade would be considered as the candidate for the 2015 European Championship.
Jevrosimovic wished the best of luck to all the contestants at the Championship and Serbian team as many points as they could get in order to win placement in the 1st European League.
Marina Muncan will compete in two events: 800m and 1500m.
“I will give my best in order to get the maximum points for the national team because we deserve to be in the 1st League”, said Muncan, the New York Diamond League participant.
When asked how far he would throw in the shot put event, Asmir replied:
“I had some problems because of the injury I have sustained earlier, but now everything is OK and I will be my usual self at the Championship”, an indication that he plans to exceed the 20 meters throw.
Today, the Athletics Federation of Serbia has gained one more friend – “Pres” newspaper, and its director Branko Miljus have decided to give AFS their media support. .
